Alexander McQueen Embroidered Slashed Blazer

The so-called ‘surgical cut’ that sees this blazer reveal the skin of the shoulders is a direct reference to Alexander McQueen’s 1996 collection titled The Hunger. In the original it was surrounded by a sooty print, but here creative director Sarah Burton has opted to surround the archival detail with gold-tone embroidery, a decidedly opulent touch that feels otherworldly, or religious, in its grandeur.
